Bush Stays Firm as House Tries Pullout

“When Bush and the House first met.”
Capital Hill’s Bedroom - As the House of Representatives lay there in front of Bush, it had expected to pullout its Troops with great confidence. The House was done with Bush and wanted nothing more than to turn over and rest its weary Troops. But in the darkness and confusions of it all, the House assumed it was dealing with Bush on a side by side playing field. But Bush was on top and decided to keep the Troops in as long as he was getting off on being in charge. So when the House voted in favor by 223-201 to pullout, Bush knew it wasn’t convincing enough to pull out the Troops so he vetoed it and decided to keep the Troops in till he was pleased with this War. Bush felt the House shouldn’t:
(be) determining how troops are positioned, or troop strength. . . . I don’t think that would be good for the country.
Or for Bush as demonstrated by this veto.
But the House leader retorted by saying the report:
makes clear that not even the (Bush) White House can conclude there has been significant progress.
With the Troops being handled by Bush, it seems the House stopped supporting this war a long time ago. House Harry Reid (NV) complained:
The time to do this is now, not September. We’re told: Good progress is being made. Wait till September. Good progress is being made. How many times over the last 4 1/2 years have we heard this? Too many to number. . . . Good progress is not being made.
The House isn’t entertained anymore by Bush’s tactics. The House wants its Troops back but Bush showed some understanding:
It’s affecting our psychology. I understand that. It’s an ugly war.
That could be one way of putting it. Another would be that this is ruining the House’s ability to be a representation of the people if it can’t achieve in getting its Troops back. But as someone who was in the room watching this all, Lawrence Korb, a Vietnam-era Navy official and Reagan administration assistant defense secretary had this to conclude by saying in Bush’s view:
You authorized me to go to war and now stay out of it until I end this thing one way or the other.
But what Korb doesn’t realize is that the House is being screwed and they stopped enjoying this a long time ago. In fact now it is bordering on painful and uncomfortable.
Someone yell stop already!
