Country on Country Action: Oil Involved!

“I got the oil, get the countries!!”

Seoul, South Korea - With North Korea on the brink of dismantling its nuclear weapons program, South Korea among five other nations are beginning to hold their end of the bargain by shipping oil to the economically distressed country. Mohamed ElBaradei, chief U.N inspector said:

I expect that operation to move smoothly. I am quite optimistic that this is a good step in the right direction. Plus the oil getting all over from one country to all over the other by a big long hard boat gets me so… happy.

Ok so maybe the last part wasn’t there but he did seem a little too happy. South Korea is in the process of shipping 6,500 tons of oil. The deal in which North Korea will shut down its reactor at Yongbyon involves China, South Korea, Russia, Japan, and the United States to ship 50,000 tons of oil to Kim Jong-Il. Should North Korea disable all nuclear facilities by February, it would be entitled to an additional 950,000 tons of energy aid. As ElBaradei said:

We should not delude ourselves. It will take time to have a comprehensive solution. One in which everyone will get off.

The last part was a little exaggerated. But someone is a little too excited about one country getting oil all over another country and it’s not just ElBaradei.
