“Don Imus is older than dust.”

Lets throw down a little run through as to what has happened. Don Imus was on his show last Wednesday and he had some lovely comments for the Rutgers’ Women’s basketball team. He said:

That’s some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoo. That’s some nappy-headed hos there, I’m going to tell you that now.

Don Imus probably doesn’t even think he is on the radio anymore. He probably thinks he is yelling at his wife over the breakfast table. The Coach, C. Vivian Stringer of the Rutgers’ team had this to say:

Before you are valedictorians of their class, future doctors, musical prodigies, and yes, even Girl Scouts.

Girl Scouts? If some of them plan on going back to being a girl scout, it might be a sign of retardation. Go on Vivian:

Ultimately, they ended up playing for the national championship. No one believed in them but them.

Apparently their own coach didn’t even believe in them. Julian Bond, guy from NAACP, had this add:

As long as an audience is attracted to his bigotry and politicians and pundits tolerate his racism and chauvinism to promote themselves, Don Imus will continue to be a serial apologist for prejudice. It is past time his employers took him off the air.

The only reason Don Imus is still around is because people from back in the day loved listening to his slightly racist but acceptable banter. After Howard Stern, he has just been something reminiscent that people enjoy listening to. However, he hasn’t changed with the times, thus making his slightly inappropriate tone into highly unacceptable racism. If MSNBC fires him, he’ll just find another slot somewhere else. He might get an afternoon spot in Chicago, even though he will probably just think he is still yelling at his wife over the lunch table (same table).
