Richard Gere takes what he wants! Then apologises.
In a country full of hypocrisy, India has done it again. Richard Gere was in New Delhi promoting AIDS awareness when he grabbed Indian actress Shilpa Shetty and kissed her on the cheek. In an effort to strike a familiar pose from his movie, “Shall We Dance,” Gere set off the Indian community. Indians on the streets of Mumbai (Bombay) began burning effigies of Gere. Is this not the same country that has women running around in little tops with cleavage busting out and midriffs exposed? Apparently the people of Mumbai had nothing better to do than take hand made monuments of Gere to the streets and burn them. Gere can be blamed as well for not being culturally sensitive and trying to promote an already failed movie, especially one as crappy as “Shall We Dance.” Shetty came to Gere’s defense:
What he did was very sweet. It was all in good humour. He especially told me to tell the media that he didn’t want to hurt any Indian sensibilities.
Good to see you say what he tells you to say. Now roll over! Pretend you have talent!

Tho this is again India-bashing I have to agree with you on this one; the indian society is decidedly full of hypocrisy. Especially when it comes to sex. They fucking invented kama sutra, why act so prude for an almost-kiss?
As I’ve done in most of my college papers, my response is best said by quoting a gangsta rapper: “i gotta call it like i see it, talk it like i be it walkin my walk, thugged out orthopedic ” - Noreaga.
In all seriousness though, they did invent the Kama sutra. And acting prude doesn’t help, especially with me.
