RIP Kurt Vonnegut – 84

American Icon

American author, Kurt Vonnegut passed away at the age of 84 this morning. Reported by long-time family friend, Morgan Entrekin, Vonnegut had been suffering from brain injuries from a fall previous weeks ago. The American icon had penned such classics as “Slaughterhouse five” and “Cat’s Cradle.”

Often drawing from his experiences as a prisoner of war and survivor of the Dresden bombings, Vonnegut wrote dark comedies. At first his novel was banned from schools but was later regarded as one of the most finest novels of the American 20th century. Vowing to never write again after the publication of his last book in 1969, Vonnegut eventually delivered another best seller. Published in 2005, “A Man Without a Country” was a giant “fuck you” to the Bush administration for being in Iraq.
