Okay, brace for a long one…

In the wake of a heavy duty week for race relations, ABC news airhead Terry Moran bitches incessantly on his blog about how we shouldn’t feel bad for the Duke Lacrosse players wrongly accused of rape…because:

So as we rightly cover the vindication of these young men and focus on the genuine ordeal they have endured, let us also remember a few other things:

They were part of a team that collected $800 to purchase the time of two strippers.

And? These are scholarship athletes on a lacrosse team, not a baseball team. There are 41 players on the Duke Lacrosse team. That’s like 20 bucks a head, if you assume that this was a team only party.

Their team specifically requested at least one white stripper.

And one black stripper? Is this not equal opportunity customers? Would they be less guilty if they requested a black Jewish stripper? I don’t get it.

During the incident, racial epithets were hurled at the strippers.

Colin Finnerty was charged with assault in Washington, DC, in 2005.

The young men were able to retain a battery of top-flight attorneys, investigators and media strategists.

Most of all, what happened to these boys isn’t worth pity because:

As students of Duke University or other elite institutions, these young men will get on with their privileged lives. There is a very large cushion under them–the one that softens the blows of life for most of those who go to Duke or similar places, and have connections through family, friends and school to all kinds of prospects for success. They are very differently situated in life from, say, the young women of the Rutgers University women’s basketball team.

Terry Moran is one of these hack journalists we have to thank for our infantile, P.C. society. Moran is just another vapid talking head amongst many in today’s “scary newstease” media. The only reason there was any trial whatsoever is because the District Attorney knew he could play on race baiters like Sharpton to get these kids thrown in jail and advance his political career, and that’s far worse than a creepy old man calling someone a name. Terry Moran is an ass. If the Rutgers girls had gone through such a struggle to get where they were, then anything an old hack like Imus said would be meaningless to them. They’re so completely outraged because media fruitbats like Terry Moran, who probably got wedgies from members of his high school lacrosse team, told them it was the most unconscionable thing to ever happen. Worse than say, having to spend over a million bucks on an attorney to combat completely baseless charges that you are a rapist.
